This large scale 'billboard' collage/installation was made in the Church at Soaring Gardens as the first major work in the life:fear series. As a 'continental' composition, it explores the ‘cultural lens’ of a classic American media authority.  I studied images published in LIFE magazine to investivate the roots of 20th Century American opinions (and contemporary reverberations) on progress, efficiency, survival, and authoritarian fear/faith dynamics from a human psychological perspective within the influences of apocalypse culture. The 1948-1955 years seem especially influential on current majority senses of ‘American Nationalism’ -- and building it through a common modernist idea of living, business, and technology.
