postal art: a personal item in the public domain I 'm generally interested in the history/concept of being able to send items through a vast network of transportation services for delivery to a specific person/location. Extra time and remote location at my recent residencies allowed me to create series of small collages that were shown to a chain of postal employees over days and miles before reaching a web of otherwise unrelated and unexpecting recipients (names erased). a few examples: |

This project evolved to be further about ideas of retreat from the urban- using content showing industrial age manifestations of amusement attraction enterprise at Coney Island, and conceptually as a novelty item/postal art souvenier. I created a series of 12 anachroinistic "Greetings from Dreamland" collages along this theme, donating them to Creative Time's Coney Island Dreamland Artist's Clubhouse to distribute to vistors. |
